Reiki Distant Attunements: Is It Live or Is It Memorex?

What is an attunement you might ask? To practice Reiki a student must first receive instruction and a attunement(s). A attunement is a small ceremony that a Reiki Master and student take part in. It can be done in person or distantly. The attunement is a powerful clearing of the students energy channels so that the student is able to channel more energy through their body than they were previously able to do and your ability to help yourself and others will increase. With each attunement you receive the more balanced and clear you will become. The minimum recommended time in between attunements is 30 days. After the attunement you will go through a 21 day cleansing process. It will clear and balance your body, mind and spirit. The attunement whether done in person or distantly is permanent.

Traditionally Reiki attunements were always done by a Reiki Master in person and are the main initiating process that Reiki students experience in order to attain any of the three Levels in Reiki and become Reiki practitioners and Masters.

Many things in Reiki have changed recently. Reiki is evolving and has experienced significant growth in the 1990's. The distant reiki attunement process is a relatively new process that started with the 1990's growth of Reiki Masters who went exploring off the beaten path and developed new techniques which lead some to introduce attunements on the internet where distance is an illusion. They thought if you can send distant treatments why not should you not be able do distant Reiki attunements?

There are some who believe that distant attunements are not as effective or as strong (as in person), I have had both in person and distant attunements and I found both works equally well. The amount of energy flow a person who has had a attunement has, depends on how much Reiki the person who has had the attunement does. The more we practice Reiki the more Reiki flow we will have. There are those who think that if a person doesn't feel the attunement this is because it was done by distant attunement and not in person. We feel an attunement not by the way it is done but by the sensitivity of the energy we can feel. So, if someone feels something during an attunement whether distant or in person it is because he is more sensitive to the energy than a person who feels nothing. We can develop our sensitivity to the energy and it is never our responsibility what others feel or don't feel.

It might be asked if there are some aspects of an attunement process that can only be done live opposed to giving the Reiki attunements distantly?

Reiki attunements use the breath to send the symbols and energy to the correct location on the recipient of the Reiki attunement. All Reiki attunements are done on a energetic level rather than a physical one. The only physical touching would be the tapping of the hands and the touch of the shoulders which is optional with some attunement processes and does not effect the process of being attuned to the Reiki energy.

All that is needed for the Reiki attunement to be successful is the Reiki Masters intent (belief) to give a Reiki attunement and the recipients intent to receive the Reiki attunement. The entire process is not up to us to make it work we just pass along a set of attunement instructions. It takes place through the Reiki intelligence, we are just the initiator of the process.
