REIKI ETHICS

The Registered Reiki Practitioner
agrees to:
- Practice with complete confidentiality and utmost
discretion. Any and all information discussed between a practitioner and a
client is regarded as absolutely confidential.
- Never reveal the name, address and any other
personal details about any client, for whatever reason, to anyone unless
permission is obtained from said client, having clearly informed the client
of all reasons, intent or legal requirement to do so. The practitioner
further agrees to never admit or verify that any person is indeed a client
of said practitioner, without said client's prior and clear approval to do
so.
- Provide a safe and comfortable area for client
sessions.
- Provide an empowering and supportive environment for
clients.
- Always treat every client with the utmost respect
and honor.
- Always provide an oral and/or written description of
what the client can expect to happen and experience during their reiki
session and what to expect before and after a client's initial session.
- Be respectful of all other Reiki practitioner's
training, opinions, views and paths. The choice to incorporate said ideas
and views, or learn from them, remains the practitioner's choice. The
practitioner must always act and conduct their affairs impeccably.
- Educate clients on the value of Reiki and explain
that sessions do not guarantee healing or complete recovery.
- Inform the client that Reiki is not a substitute for
qualified medical or professional care, but is instead a valuable part of a wholesome wellness program.
- Inquire if the client regularly sees a medical
professional for any condition and to also suggest a consultation with a
qualified and licensed medical professional, if a problem or situation could
be considered a threat to the client's well-being in any way. Reiki is a
wonderful supplement to medical treatment and the practitioner must be aware
of past, current and ongoing medical treatments of their client.
- Never diagnose or prescribe and to NEVER suggest
that the client change prescribed treatment or interfere with treatment of a
licensed health care provider.
- Never ask clients to disrobe (unless the
practitioner is also a legally licensed massage therapist in the country
and/or state in which they practice). The practitioner agrees to be
sensitive to the boundary needs of individual clients, to not touch the
genital area or breasts and to only practice hands-off techniques in these
areas if treatment is needed.
